13-year-old Rhya’s best friend Katrina has been abducted from the parking lot of a Wisconsin shopping mall, and Rhya decides to stake out the site she was taken from. Sloane, a teenage employee at the mall's sunglasses kiosk, decides to stick around and watch over her. As more details about the lead-up to Katrina's kidnapping emerge, Sloane must weigh her desire to protect Rhya's innocence against her desire to protect Rhya from the brutal and sickening realities she faces simply by existing in the body of an adolsecent woman.
